Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County is Hiring an Accountant I Near Smyrna, DE

Pay Rate: $20 per hour
Job Description:
  • Analyze and process all financial documents presented in an orderly and timely manner including purchase orders, payment vouchers, and p-card transactions and ensure all back-up documentation is appropriate and complete per state and federal funding guidelines.
  • Review contracts and procurement guidelines as needed.
  • Enter information into State financial management system FSF and Smart Simple, QuickBooks, or Excel spreadsheets as needed with all appropriate documentation.
  • Adjustments and error corrections are made when needed and appropriate such as journal vouchers and payroll funding adjustments with documentation attached and internal controls maintained.
  • Process all payments received whether by mail or ACH deposits per appropriate guidelines ensuring internal controls are maintained for all miscellaneous payments, reimbursements, and federal draws entered in FSF.
  • Work with Federal recovery grants including Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities, and Flood Mitigation.
  • Assist with budgets required by Clearinghouse and submissions documentation, setting up budgets, tracking projects obligated and paid, and entering information in QuickBooks or Smart Simple grant management software.
  • Also assist with Homeland Security grant programs including nonprofit security and cyber security grants.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for audit trail and provide data, reports, and other documentation to state, federal, or independent auditors.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external partners.
  • Participate in Emergency Center Operations, drills, and exercises as assigned.
  • Complete First State Financial training to receive access to modules needed such as AP, AR, Pcard, PO’s, Grant Management, etc.
  • Attend financial training as scheduled such as the AGA Chapter webinars, professional development, and the National Leadership training.
  • Complete the State Emergency Operations Common Job Qualification Standards and any position specific JQS standards assigned.
  • Complete FEMA Professional development series independent study courses: IS120, IS230, IS240, IS241, IS242, IS244 and receive a completion certificate.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Business Management, Computer Information Systems or related field.
OR
1. Six months experience in accounting using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
2. Six months experience compiling, analyzing and interpreting financial data to ensure effective and efficient accounting of funds or to make projections for financial planning.
3. Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
4. Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
5. Knowledge of creating financial reports which includes combining and presenting financial data from multiple sources in an organized format.
