Johnston County Public Schools is Hiring a School Psychologist Near Smithfield, NC

POSITION: School Psychologist 

LOCATION: CIA/Exceptional Children

SALARY: State Salary Schedule

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Exceptional Children Programs

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Degree or higher in school psychology from an accredited college/university.
  • Good knowledge of educational guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies and assesses the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups, as well as the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment. Uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions and programs.
  • Conducts assessments of students.
  • Provide consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustment of students.
  • Provides counseling services to students when appropriate.
  • Assists in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs to meet identified learning and adjustment needs of students.
  • Delivers a planned and coordinated program of psychological services.
  • Applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice.
  • Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skill.
  • Communicates effectively in written and oral forms.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, teachers, students, peers, and administrators.
  • Participate with Johnston County Public Schools Medicaid Billing Program for eligible Medicaid students, including participation in the Random Moment Time Studies for Medicaid Reimbursable services.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Adheres to timelines established by Policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Director, or designee.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders.
  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
  • Strong interpersonal relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms.
  • Ability to develop and compile a variety of records and reports.
