Located in the Arbor Heights neighborhood of West Seattle, Westside serves 400 students in preschool through eighth grade. Westside School has seen tremendous growth in the past two years, with waitlists from preschool to 5th grade. Over 30% of our student body are Black, Indigenous and People of Color. Westside’s Lower School serves 200 students in kindergarten-4th grade and is organized into grade level teams of 2 teachers and 2 instructional assistants, who collaborate to both implement and design meaningful curriculum.
Westside is in search of an individual to join our Lower School team as a fourth-grade faculty member. We are seeking a candidate who can support the school’s focus on diversity and inclusion and who has a background that demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of intercultural fluency. The fourth-grade lead teacher is responsible for their classroom in all areas. This involves developing and implementing a comprehensive age-appropriate curriculum for math, reading, writing, handwriting, spelling, science, and social studies. It also involves creating a community of learners in the classroom who respect and care for one another. The lead teacher works collaboratively with other classroom and specialist teachers. The lead teacher participates fully in the life of the school, attending in-service days, meetings, and school celebrations, and upholds the mission, vision, and values of Westside School.

Responsibilities Include:

PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER (PS-4TH GRADE)

The Early Learning (PS-PK) and Lower School (grades K-4) P.E. Teacher plays a pivotal role in our school community, responsible for both promoting physical well-being and supporting the development of our athletics program. This position involves fostering a positive and active learning environment for Lower School students. The EL/LS PE Teacher collaborates with other faculty members, coaches, and staff to ensure the overall success of our athletic programs and the well-being of our students.

  • Experience designing and implementing curriculum that is informed by a deep knowledge of physical education and student development.
  • Ability to provide differentiated instruction for students with varying levels of ability.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS

Westside School is looking for both teachers and instructional assistants with experience working with children in grades preschool to eighth grade to add to our substitute roster. We also need substitutes for music and performing arts, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and physical education.

The ideal candidate will be accessible for early morning calls. Candidates with partial availability during the week are also encouraged to apply. Please submit resume and references to employment@westsideschool.org.

Compensation

$35.00/hour
