Job Description

Position Summary:

The Cybersecurity Analyst will work within the Information Security team and with the business functions to ensure that business assets are protected in line with the corporate information and cyber security program and to meet a key business objective of maintaining compliance and regulatory standards. The Cybersecurity Analyst will assist in the development, implementation and management of security processes and tooling to ensure Trupanion’s compliance.

This position is open to candidates in the Seattle area. You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.

What you will do: 

  • Manage and monitor IT security technologies and controls, ensuring threats to business information are identified, logged, remediated and raised in a timely manner.
  • Research and communicate emerging threat actors/sources, zero-day exploits, vulnerabilities, malware, APTs and data ex-filtration methods.
  • Continually improve and automate threat detection, security operations activity and remediation procedures.
  • Perform technical vulnerability scanning, produce reports and act as the remediation advisory. Co-ordinate and lead vulnerability exploitation testing.
  • Participate in incident response, ensuring timely response actions and appropriate engagement of team members.
  • Perform root cause analysis of security incidents and participate in post-incident reviews.
  • Support the business in ensuring information security compliance with industry-recognized standards and frameworks, such as ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and NIST CFS.
  • Provide administration and support of the Information Security Management System.
  • Assist in the definition and testing of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits relating to information security.
  • Own maintenance and creation of security dashboards, reports and metrics.

Experience you have: 

  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security or equivalent work experience.
  • Industry relevant Information Security qualifications (e.g. CISSP or CISM).
  • Ideal candidates should possess a robust technical background with a minimum of 5 years' hands-on experience in IT administration, IT operations, and IT security, coupled with at least 3 years' specific exposure to Information Security/Cyber Security

What you'll bring: 

  • Proficient management of diverse security technologies, including M365/Azure security management.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the Mitre Att&ck Framework, prevailing security threats and trends, along with a detailed understanding of the root causes behind cyber-attack methodologies such as e-mail phishing, malware, and data breaches.
  • Familiarity with information security standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001).
  • Exposure to PCI-DSS and payment service technologies.
  • Track record of implementing and/or maintaining technical standards and frameworks (e.g. CIS, OWASP, and NIST).
  • Experience in designing and implementing comprehensive written and technical information security documentation.
  • Previous involvement in supporting both internal and external audit activities.
  • Competence in threat hunting, intrusion detection, incident response, packet collection, traffic analysis, and malware analysis.

Compensation:

  • The pay range for this position is $100,000 -$120,000 per year, on a full-time schedule.
  • Along with the base salary, Trupanion employees may be eligible for monthly bonuses.
  • We want all employees to be invested in Trupanion’s success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members. Our new hire grants vest over 4 years.
