Fuji Vegetable Oil USA is Hiring an Asst. QA Manager Near Savannah, GA

SUMMARY Assists QA Manager in supervision and coordination of activities of personnel engaged in performing chemical and physical tests required for quality control of processes and products by performing the following duties. Assures consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practices (GMP) systems; validating processes; providing documentation; managing staff. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Directs and advises personnel in special test procedures to analyze components and physical properties of materials. 
  • Ensure raw product and finished product are within specification or resolves noncompliance issues with production or necessary personnel.
  • Compiles and analyzes test information to determine operating efficiency of process and/or equipment and to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Investigates new methods or procedures for more efficient analysis of products. 
  • Prepares analytical reports on product shipments for customers. 
  • Assists in the investigation of complaints regarding existing products or service to customers. 
  • Arranges for the proper disposal of laboratory waste, including the required documentation. 
  • Along with other Managers, conducts weekly sanitation inspections. 
  • Help keep QA notifications channel in Teams up to date with quality issues’ root causes, which shows monthly activity which aids FVO production in improving their processes. 
  • Manage lab safety programs, includes weekly safety meetings, keep lab training records up to date, update SDS as required.
  • Meetings attend daily meeting, manager meeting (monthly), and any other special meetings as called. 
  • Maintain Lab databases, raw materials COA’s, prepare COA’s for all railcar and packaging shipments when needed. Assist Team Leader in e-mailing COA’s to customers who are on the e-mail list. 
  • Test and analyze sample products. 
  • Train lab personnel in procedures to ensure correct procedures are followed. Validate the QA technicians are proficient at performing each assigned test by performing competency and accuracy testing semi-annually or as needed. 
  • Assist Team Leaders with analytical work required with CBE as well as training of personnel on specific tests associated with CBE. 
  • Responsible for problem solving of laboratory instruments and equipment problems, cleaning and calibration of them. 
  • Manage QA Pre-shipment list, QA Customer Sample Requests, and other special outside testing/analysis as required. 
  • Assist Team Leaders with monthly 3rd party testing of final products. 
  • Assist with performing quarterly pathogen testing for Environmental Monitoring Program. 
  • Responsible for weekly ordering of lab supplies (chemicals, gas cylinders, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Training of new QA personnel is an essential part of this job. Normal work schedule will be M-F 7:00AM- 3:30PM. The Assistant QA Manager must be able to work flexible hours, which will include some weekend, evening and night work. Will be required to alternate weekly on-call with the QA Manager.

The Assistant QA Manager will direct, develop, and supervise staff and work to assure reliable, timely, accurate and consistent laboratory results. They will ensure that existing and new laboratory procedures are approved, performed correctly and reported properly; affecting improvements, and insuring quality of apparatus, equipment and materials. They will also ensure the maintenance and calibrations are performed according to equipment standards.

Working knowledge of statistical analysis methods used for setting validation acceptance criteria and release specifications. 

 General experience and knowledge of laboratory licensing, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.

Responsible for achieving AOCS Certified Laboratory status.

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree and three or more years related experience.

At least 3 years' experience in a lead/supervisor/manager role including employee scheduling, technical procedure writing, performance appraisals, performance improvement planning and quality assurance projects.

 LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read, analyses, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

 REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Wastewater Laboratory Analyst Training and Certification with the State of Georgia may be required to be completed at a later date.
