Universal Insurance is Hiring a MANAGER - COMPLIANCE Near Sarasota, FL

General Description:
This individual is responsible for supervision of professional compliance employees that support the development and maintenance of the UNA compliance program as outlined below.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and direct a professional compliance staff that provides training, awareness, monitoring and testing of compliance controls for the UNA business.
Lead and manage the handling of responses and resolution to customer complaints. Mentor compliance team members through the responses process.
Manage projects targeted toward working with colleagues in all departments to ensure products, systems, processes & procedures are following statutory/regulatory requirements.
Participate in the preparation of reports to senior management regarding all compliance assurance activities impacting the business.
Supervise the rollout process for specific compliance audits internally and with MGAs, TPAs and applicable vendors.
Manage all investigations relating to alleged violation of state or federal regulations, under the supervision and guidance of the VP of Legal & Compliance.

Serve as the primary point of contact for the company with all applicable state and federal regulatory bodies.

Responsible for properly responding, rebut and, if necessary, designing action plans to address results of regulatory findings internally and with MGAs, TPA and other vendors.
Ensure remediation and appropriate preventative action in response to violations of rules, regulations, and policies.
Ensure the company is meeting all compliance related reporting and form filing requirements in all states where UNA does business.
Work with Legal and Regulatory Director and other corporate departments to ensure new laws and regulations applicable to UNA are implemented within the business.

Perform other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree from accredited four-year University.

Minimum of ten (10) years insurance compliance experience or fifteen (15) years of experience in a senior role relating to the operations and administration of property and casualty insurance.

Experience and knowledge relating to property & casualty regulatory affairs, compliance, financial analysis, insurance pricing, business channels, business planning and strategy.
Demonstrated ability to create, manage and maintain a complex compliance program for a property & casualty insurance company on a multi-jurisdictional basis.
Demonstrated ability to create, manage and maintain a complex compliance auditing and monitoring program for a property & casualty insurance company on a multi-jurisdictional basis.
Must possess knowledge of, or acquire within a reasonable time, of NAIC insurance examiner’s methodology and procedures such as Market Conduct Examiner’s Handbook, Financial Examiner’s Handbook and any other applicable state regulator guidelines, manuals or procedures utilized in company compliance examinations.
Must possess strong and articulate verbal and written communication skills.
Must possess strong analytical skills.

Strong supervisory and team-building skills.

Proficient in database administration, Microsoft XP, Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.

Must be able to work under tight deadlines efficiently and with high quality.
Must be willing to work flexible schedules to support multiple time zones and travel as required.
Must possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Licenses and / or Certifications:
No license or certification is required to perform the job if the candidate has 10 years’ experience directly in insurance compliance. Otherwise, an insurance compliance certification may be required.
