Universal Insurance is Hiring an INSIDE CLAIMS REPRESENTATIVE TRAINEE Near Sarasota, FL

General Description:
Throughout the claim investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution process, the Inside Claim Representative Trainee collaborates closely with their Unit Manager. All decisions and actions regarding the claim adjustment process originate from the Claim Unit Manager. Despite being assigned claims of lesser value and complexity, the Trainee engages in claim adjustment working alongside the Unit Manager to determine necessary actions tailored to each specific claim. The Trainee executes upon these delegated actions throughout the adjustment process, receiving close guidance and counseling throughout the claim adjustment process, to ensure alignment with company protocols and standards, in addition to compliance with state regulations and statutes. The Claim Representative Trainee is required to actively participate and complete formalized claim training sessions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accomplish voice – to – voice contact with our Policyholder(s), Third-Party Claimant(s), Agent(s) or Representatives of the Policyholder(s) or Claimant(s) within the same day / next day of receiving the claim assignment.
Following specific direction and guidance from the Claim Unit Manager, Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve assigned claims of lessor value and complexity.
Successfully complete required formalized training sessions.
Ensure meticulous file documentation in the claim system notes, utilizing the necessary "Note Title" to facilitate clear and comprehensive communication within the claim file.
Under the close direction and guidance of the Claim Unit Manager, develop the ability to determine the facts of the loss, coverage compensability and the degree of exposure by unit of coverage.
Under the close direction and guidance of the Claim Unit Manager, develop the ability to identify claims requiring referral, as appropriate, based upon exposure and established guidelines.
Adhere to high standards of claim file management, following best practices, as directed by the Claim Unit Manager, and acquire the knowledge and skills to explore and apply alternative resolution methods as deemed suitable.
Provide outstanding customer service.
Communicate clearly and professionally with the customer by telephone and/or written correspondence regarding all aspects of the claims process.
Flexibility and willingness to work early evening and/or weekend hours, as necessary.
Perform other duties as required.

Education and / or Experience:
Completion of an associate degree or higher, or equivalent relevant business experience.
Strong verbal and written communications skills and attention to detail.
Must be able to work in a collaborative atmosphere.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Customer service oriented.
Demonstrated ownership attitude and customer centric response to all assigned tasks.
A foundational knowledge of insurance principles and practices.
Bi-lingual Spanish speaking is a plus.

Licenses and / or certifications:
Adjuster’s license(s) (where applicable) are required or successfully acquired within 60 days of hiring.
