Pura Vida Recovery Services is Hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) Near Santa Rosa, CA

Part-Time Hybrid (On-Site/On-Call)

With our full continuum of care, broad array of accepted insurances, and available scholarships, Pura Vida’s mission is to put high-quality, life-saving addiction treatment within reach of anyone who may need our help.

To that end, we are seeking a part-time (20 hrs/week) Registered Nurse (RN) to provide in-person care to patients & on-call support for subordinate medical staff at our detoxification facility in Santa Rosa, California. This is a part-time, contracted (W9) position.

Job Duties

· Conduct patient rounds in the mornings/evenings to review treatment plans & pressing concerns.

· Identify hot spots and offer instructions/insights to LVN’s and Medical Assistants administering care.

· Review patient documentation for errors and discrepancies, communicate any issues to senior medical staff.

· Be available during designated on-call hours for consultation and questions from medical & admissions staff on time-sensitive questions relevant to patient care.

· Assist with admissions as needed by helping with assessments, checking vitals, securing/logging patient belongings, and obtaining consents.

· Document patient progress through detailed notes using our electronic health record (EHR) – Experience using Ritten software is preferred, but not required.

· Participate in weekly team meetings.

· Occasionally may be required to train LVN’s and Medical Assistant(s) on specific practices or topics.

· Collaborate with counselors & other treatment staff to ensure best possible care for patients.

· Audit rounds sheets to ensure completeness and accuracy.

· Demonstrate cultural competency and unconditional positive regard for patients.

· Maintain an empathetic, patient-centered mindset, professional communication, and appropriate boundaries. Work to resolve any issues/complaints that arise.

· Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Education, Experience, & Skills Required

· Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

· 1-2 years of experience working with substance abuse and/or mental health strongly preferred.

Licensure Requirements

· Currently licensed RN in the state of California.

· Valid First Aid & CPR certification (training available upon hire by facility)

Special consideration will be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

· Personal history of military service (Veteran)

· Prior work treating military patients.

· Demonstrated understanding of military culture and behavioral health concerns unique to military patients (i.e. PTSD, TBI, civilian reintegration, moral injury, etc.)

· Knowledge of and/or existing relationships with the VA’s office of community care

· Experience working with young/emerging adults in a recovery setting.

Reporting Structure

This position will report to the Detoxification Program Director, under the supervision of the Medical Director (MD) and Providers On-Call (NP & PA). RN’s will be responsible for assisting the Program Director and Medical team in maintaining a safe, comfortable environment for patients to complete their detox. RN’s will share supervisory responsibility over LVN’s and Medical Assistants with the Program Director during their time on-site. When off-site, they will be expected to be available on-call during designated hours to answer time-sensitive medical questions or respond to pressing issues.

TBD depending on licensure & experience.
