EQUIPMENT OPERATOR III
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
The City of Sanford is accepting applications to fill the position of Equipment Operator III. Applicants must have and maintain a valid State of Maine Class II/B CDL operator’s license. Applicants must also possess a non-fault accident free driving record for the 18 months previous and no moving citations in the past 12 months.
This is a skilled and semi-skilled position in the operation of heavy equipment, front end loaders, specialized and related equipment. This position requires supervision of assignments on a daily basis as wells as department wide winter weather emergency response initiation and leadership. Experience in the operation of heavy equipment and the ability to work from heights is required. Please refer to the attached job description for additional requirements. An equipment test will be given to all applicants who pass the initial interview process.
This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week. Work is assigned and primarily carried out from the Department of Public Works Director, Assistant Director or their designee. Work assignments will encompass all areas of the City of Sanford.
The successful applicant is required to be available nights, holidays, and weekends as determined by the needs of the City during inclement weather, emergency situations, or at the discretion of the Director of Public Works and/or their designee.
All applicants for positions requiring a CDL are required to pass a drug test as a prerequisite of employment, prior to final hiring and must also successfully pass a background check to the satisfaction of the City.
