Truss Plant Sawyer Essential Functions
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job the employee will be required to frequently stand on their feet for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift/ handle various sizes of lumber as required to keep pace with production. It requires close vision/ far vision, depth perception – three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, talk and hear.
Required Education And Experience
- Follows all safety procedures at all times
- Has experience operating truss plant type saws
- Understands truss plant workflow
- Can get maximum efficiency from equipment as operator
- Coordinate and work with manager(s) and team members for timely production of all jobs
- As a sawyer this individual is responsible for safety, quality, and housekeeping
- Continuous quality control of production through inspections, measurements, checks etc.
- Inspects work in progress and finished products as needed
- Analyze and resolve work problems
- Willing to attend training to improve skill, knowledge, cross-train.
- Willing to teach/ coach others as needed
- Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
- High skill with component saws. Multi-blade and/or single blade type machines
- Positive attitude
- Willing to learn and teach
- Practices Kaizen attributes/ constantly thinking continuous improvement and makes suggestions
- Understands measurables and can meet or exceed production expectations daily

Required Education And Experience
- A High School education; minimum three years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Truss plant sawyer operator preferred
- Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Conduct self with integrity and ethical practices
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to relate to every level of the organization effectively
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
