Job Summary

Canal Alliance is seeking a dedicated and experienced Information Technology (IT) Specialist to join our team. The IT Specialist will be responsible for managing and enhancing our IT infrastructure, ensuring the highest levels of security and data protection, and supporting our mission-driven work. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT with a focus on security, an understanding of the unique challenges faced by nonprofits, and a commitment to leveraging technology to support our organizational goals. 

This is a hybrid position with 3 days in office presence required and 1 day WFH per week. 

Key Responsibilities

IT Infrastructure Management:

• Oversee and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including computers, printers, and networking equipment. 
• Ensure system availability, reliability, and performance. 
• Manage software and hardware installations, configurations, and upgrades. 

Security Management:

• Develop, implement, and monitor security policies and procedures to protect the organization's data and IT assets. 
• Conduct regular security assessments. 
• Respond to and mitigate security breaches and incidents. 

Technical Support:

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for staff and volunteers. 
• Manage help desk activities and ensure timely resolution of technical issues. 
• Conduct training sessions to enhance staff proficiency in using IT tools (Office, Sharepoint, Teams, Zoom, etc) and maintaining security protocols. 

Project Management:

• Collaborate with other departments to identify and address their IT needs. 
• Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with external IT service providers. 

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• AS/AA or BA or equivalent combination of experience and education. 
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support. 
• Experience in the non-profit sector is preferred but not required. 

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in managing Windows environments. 
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365. 
• Experience with cybersecurity tools and practices, including antivirus software. 

Soft Skills:

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
• A commitment to the community that we serve, and our staff. 

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. 
• Willingness to occasionally work outside regular business hours to address critical issues or perform maintenance. 
• Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with the latest IT and security trends. 
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required. 

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. We offer a competitive hourly range of $36/hr with a benefits package that includes:

• 3 weeks paid vacation per year

Canal Alliance works a 4DWW- Work 4 days / 32 hours in a highly effective and efficient team - and get paid 5 days /40 hours! Shifts are Mon-Thurs 9am-5pm.
