Dry Food Production Plant is Hiring a Quality Control Technician Near San Antonio, TX

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assist and maintain quality control objectives complimentary to corporate policies and goals

· Maintain product inspection criteria and procedures based upon company, industry accepted standards and principles

· Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel in organization

· Provide inspection activity for product throughout production cycle. Make decisions based on samples provided as to the quality and viability of product

· Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department

· Direct workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products

· Play an active role on quality management teams within organization

· Help train and enforce GMP and quality guidelines

· Gather supplier information (assists)

· Work closely with Sanitation to ensure compliance with company/government standards

· Understand, design, implement and maintain quality standard operating procedures and product safety programs such as Safety and Sanitation, SQF, HACCP and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). In addition, train employees and key personnel in conjunction with managers on the above programs

· Assist the Plant Manager to maintain the safety program in place for the facility

· Assist in investigating customer complaints regarding quality

· Calculate measurements necessary to create large volumes of products (recipes) for various departments. Creating labels for those products, as well

· Ensure recipes and processes remain confidential

· Perform clerical duties when necessary, preparing reports, memos, etc.

· Assist in maintaining SQF 2000 system

· Backup critical control monitor

· Assist in computerized manufacturing process

· When work orders are scanned in, the amounts must be checked to ensure they are correct and that the proper amounts of raw materials are picked and the dates are correct. Corrections are made if necessary after discussion with appropriate personnel

· Once the correct information has been ascertained, the run must be processed/manufactured

· Verify that all items have costs attached, checks for errors and updates

· Once updated, they must then log the items manufactured in their respective departments.

· Sign off on the appropriate log and in the case of blends. This indicates that the products are now available for filling orders.

· Throughout the day monitor the jar lines and "manufactures" the items produced at the conclusion of each run

· Responsible for creating or reopening work orders for the Cello Room and any other departments as required and making the corresponding labels as needed. Labels are made for all departments as required throughout the manufacturing day.

· Assist Cello Hand Pack Room in supplying product to the distribution center

· Grind work orders are created as needed

· Will address "availability issues" for the items that are scanned in either to production or to fill orders. This involves checking stock levels on items in question and where necessary performing physical counts.

· Assist whenever plant wide physical counts are conducted

· Assist with trouble shooting issues for the order fillers to include using the hand held scanners

· All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Associates Degree from a college, university or technical school: or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

· HACCP Certification Required

· Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

REQUIRED SKILLS:

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

· Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

· Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

· Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

· Able to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policies and procedure manuals

· Basic mathematic knowledge

· Able to apply concepts such as averages, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

· Able to use a scale

· Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

· Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

· Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl for long periods of time

· Able to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms frequently

· Able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 60 pounds occasionally

· Able to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus

· Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts

· Regular exposure to various temperatures, dusty, and humid conditions

· Noise level is usually moderate

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
