Contract Duration – 13 weeks Contract.

Position – Travel Psych RN

Schedule: Days 7am to 7pm

Facility location - 1900 ELECTRIC ROAD, SALEM, VA 24153

What You Will Do:
Job Specific Responsibilities:

• Assessment and Evaluation: Conducting comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health status, including their emotional, cognitive, and behavioral functioning. Psych RNs gather information about patients' psychiatric history, symptoms, risk factors, and psychosocial stressors.
• Nursing Diagnosis and Care Planning: Formulating nursing diagnoses based on assessment findings and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans. Psych RNs prioritize interventions to address patients' mental health needs, promote recovery, and enhance coping skills.
• Medication Administration and Management: Administering psychiatric medications as prescribed by physicians and monitoring patients for therapeutic effects, side effects, and adverse reactions. Psych RNs educate patients about medication regimens, potential risks, and strategies for adherence.
• Therapeutic Interventions: Implementing therapeutic interventions to support patients' emotional and psychological well-being. Psych RNs engage patients in therapeutic communication, counseling, and behavioral interventions to address issues such as anxiety, depression, aggression, and suicidality.
• Crisis Intervention and De-escalation: Responding to psychiatric emergencies and crisis situations with calmness and professionalism. Psych RNs utilize de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention strategies, and therapeutic restraint when necessary to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Patient Education and Counseling: Providing education to patients and their families about mental health disorders, treatment options, and coping strategies. Psych RNs teach patients about symptom management, relaxation techniques, stress reduction, and community resources.

What You Will Need:
