Family Guidance Centers is Hiring a Quality Improvement Specialist Near Saint Joseph, MO

DESCRIPTION

This position involves promoting the quality, value, and optimal outcome of services through a structured, thorough analysis of medical records. The Quality Improvement Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with state/federal regulations, requirements of funding sources, and external accrediting entities via review of behavioral health medical records. This position involves working with adult mental health, children/family services, and substance use services. This position also involves maintaining the agencies accreditation and any certifications. The position may require taking on special programs/duties, as needed. Key responsibilities include, providing feedback to behavioral health departments regarding areas of improvement, and providing brief education to staff individually as needed.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Work may include but is not limited to the following examples:
  • To help provide Family Guidance Center with a means of ongoing quality assurance.
  • To help facilitate the process of establishing FGC with agency policies and departmental IOP’s that meet certification and accreditation guidelines to guide documentation of service delivery.
  • To participate in meetings pertaining to CARF Accreditation and serve on CARF committees as assigned.
  • Gathers required outcomes for reporting for different programs.4. Perform telephonic interviews of consumers to assess services provided5. Recommends areas for enhanced training for staff and researches topical areas for training.
  • Maintains and submits reports on medical records reviews of departments, including HCH.
  • Identifies and communicates all potential compliance and/or quality documentation issues to appropriate organizational administration.
  • Completes medical records reviews to ensure timeliness of documentation; quality of documentation, and presence of required technical components of documentation.
  • Readily available to answer questions regarding documentation process by front line service delivery staff.
  • Participates in corporate compliance reviews.
  • Assists with behavioral health department corporate compliance trainings.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent written and oral communication, project management, computer, conceptual and analytical skills.
Ability to work effectively within the team environment.
Knowledge of the requirements of state and federal law pertaining to the behavioral healthcare program..
Knowledge of medical necessity construct as defined by federal and state entities; ability to apply this construct to agency documentation.
Ability to read, comprehend, and speak in the English language.
Ability to work harmoniously with employees of varying disciplines and backgrounds. .
Ability to create and complete a plan
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Ability to recognize potential ethical problems and address in ethical manner.
Ability to express ideas clearly and to interpret laws and regulations.
Ability to plan and organize working time effectively.
Ability to be assertive to staff in providing guidance on documentation.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

The following education and experience qualifications are the minimum requirement used to admit or reject applicants for consideration.
  • Bachelor's degree required in social work, psychology, or closely related field, preferred. A Master's degree preferred.
  • At least one year of experience with Family Guidance Center is preferred.

NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATION

  • Must successfully pass a background screening in accordance with 9 CSR 10-5.190.
  • Must have knowledge of relevant standards guiding documentation or demonstrate an aptitude for learning such.
