Job Summary

Works to establish and maintain all functions of the café within InterServ. Promotes the organization’s mission, vision, and values though great customer service.

Works under the supervision of the Director of Operations

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities

1. Customer service related to café operations, including educating customers on food and beverage items, proactive customer problem solving and customer satisfaction, and providing a consistent and positive customer experience.

2. Preparation of drinks and food items, ensures consistent menu quality.

3. Menu planning and production for food items, including catering. Tracking menu item performance and planning according to customer satisfaction and appeal.

4. Ensure quality standards are met for both café items and customer service.

5. Maintaining inventory and ordering supplies based on projected sales.

6. Assures adherence to state and local health department rules and regulations. Maintains appropriated and necessary licenses and reports.

7. Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards), account balancing, cost control, and interpretation of financial statements.

8. Open and close the café for hours of operation, including set up, cleaning, prep work.

9. Development and presentation of ideas for growth and expansion of café operations.

10. Required to attend meetings as designated.

Job Specifications:

1. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Serve Safe Certification or other safe food handling education preferred.

2. Licensure: N/A

3. Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in hospitality industry.

4. Essential technical/motor skills: Strong presentation skills, problem solving abilities, and planning skills.

5. Interpersonal skills: Good communication and management skills, ability to accomplish goals solely and through others.

6. Essential physical requirement: Ability to remain in a stationary standing position for 4-6 hours at a time: Ability to move 25-50 pounds. Ability to move around the space to access food storage, kitchen equipment, etc. Ability to position self to access items on lower shelving, upper shelving, etc. Ability to carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to withstand various weather conditions when duties require work outdoors.

7. Essential mental abilities: Basic math skills, verbal and written communication skills, public speaking skills. Ability to understand the philosophy behind management through goals and objectives. Ability to use a computer for basic record keeping.

8. Essential sensory requirements: Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, staff, volunteers, and clients, ability to observe and document activities of clients and staff. Able to distinguish between differing flavors for quality control purposes.

9. Exposure to hazards: Normal office/business substances. Typical contagions. May be exposed to blood or other infectious material as defined by OSHA.

10. Other: Must be able to pass background screen conducted by InterServ, not limited to the Family Care Safety Registry.
