JOB TITLE: System AdministratorDEPARTMENT: IT - SystemsSTATUS: Non-ExemptJOB CODE: 1781PAY SCALE: $38.81 - $42.50 HourlyGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The System Administrator is responsible for administration, maintenance, and support of Golden 1 Credit Union systems, under minimal guidance. The scope of responsibility includes software and hardware installation, maintenance, and performance control for credit union technology systems. This job requires intermediate knowledge and experience managing and maintaining enterprise level server standards for on premise and Azure cloud environments. Intermediate level experience is required across several infrastructure operating system platforms including but not limited to Microsoft Operating Systems (on premise and azure cloud), VMWare ESXi, Citrix XenApp and XenDesktops. Novice level experience with Red Hat operating systems is desired. Intermediate level experience includes installing, configuring and providing ongoing support of clustered and non-clustered Microsoft server platforms and desktop technologies as well as Red Hat Linux platforms from the oldest yet supported version to current and beta released version is required. Intermediate level experience with IBM Sterling Managed File Transfer configuration and ongoing support for static and dynamic routes is required. Intermediate level experience with persistent and nonpersistent virtualized desktop technologies to support enterprise scale use. Intermediate level experience with scripting and automation languages particularly Windows and Azure Powershell. TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:Installation, configuration, administration and maintenance of virtual and physical servers on premise and in the azure cloudWith minimal guidance, research solutions and actively partner with business groups to proactively move work efforts to completionDetect, diagnose and resolve or escalate system issues arising within the system architecture including server hardware, applicable Operating system and including but not limited to commercial off the shelf and vendor applications in use with the designated system architectureDetect, diagnose and resolve or escalate system issues arising within the Sterling Managed File Transfer systemSuggest, design, configure and support scripting opportunities to streamline activity where possibleMonitor and report system security, performance and events utilizing system monitoring toolsApply patches and updates to infrastructure components during maintenance releases as requiredMaintain and support a High Availability environment through virtualization and redundancy, following best practices according to the systems in the environmentPrepare, deliver and maintain documentation relevant to systems utilized at Golden 1Respond to and resolve Tier 3 support requests via a ticketing systemFollow and refine ITSM processes to ensure continuous improvement of customer response in a timely mannerParticipate in the "on-call" rotationMaintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position through compliance trainingPerform other duties as assignedPHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:Effective oral and written communication skills required to interpret, resolve, and document networking problems.Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate applicable computer hardware, a variety of hand tools and standard office equipment.ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:INTERNAL: All levels of staff and managementEXTERNAL: VendorsQUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or comparable discipline or equivalent work experience.EXPERIENCE:Three and five years’ experience as a System Administrator in an enterprise domain environmentWorking experience with AD group policies in on premise and AD AzureWorking experience with Windows Server the oldest yet supported operating systems to the most current and beta versions including on premise and azure cloudWorking experience with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)Working experience with IBM Managed File Transfer systemWorking experience with vSphere system administration and support including VMotion, HA, DRS, vCenter Host Profiles, resource pools, and P2V migrationsWorking experience with Citrix and XenApp Desktops including persistent and non-persistent environmentsWorking experience with Powershell or other scripting languagesPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Prolonged sitting throughout the workday to accomplish tasksAvailability for emergency and on call duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as neededOccasional travel may be requiredLift and carry communications equipment and computer hardware weighing up to fifty pounds.Corrected vision in the normal range required to configure, test, and troubleshoot network server hardware and dataHearing within normal rangeMust possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate applicable computer hardware, a variety of hand tools and standard office equipmentMay work additional work hours to accomplish tasksLICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is requiredCurrent Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) desiredAzure Foundation and Associate Certifications desiredVMware Certified Associate (VCA) desiredRed Hat Certified Administrator (RHCSA) desiredCitrix or XenApp foundation desiredREV. 8/14/2023
