Recreation Supervisor (Programs, Classes, and Events)This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at the forthcoming state-of-the-art aquatic and recreation facility slated to launch in Summer 2024. This brand-new 49,360 sq ft facility will showcase indoor and outdoor lap pools, a zero-entry wading pool, fitness amenities, a gymnasium, a walking track, and ample space for programming and rentals. The ideal candidate will assume responsibility for professional recreation duties, encompassing the planning, organization, and supervision of contract and in-house recreation programs, classes, and camps, and the permitting of external special events. The supervisor will also have oversight of youth and adult sports leagues, enrichment classes for youth and adults, and other programs within the Recreation division. The position provides technical and functional supervision for the Recreation Services Coordinators assigned to these programs.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responsibilities of the Recreation Services Supervisor include, but are not limited to: Managing and supervising assigned operations to achieve goals within available resources; planning and organizing workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff and volunteers; reviews progress and directs and implements changes as needed. Providing leadership and direction in the development of short- and long-range plans; gathering, interpreting, and preparing data for studies, reports and recommendations; coordinating department activities with other departments and agencies as needed. Providing professional advice to supervisors; making presentations to supervisors, boards, commissions, civic groups, and the general public. Communicating official plans, policies, and procedures to staff and the general public. Assuring that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget; performing cost control activities; monitoring revenues and expenditures in assigned area to assure sound fiscal control; preparing annual budget requests; assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time. Determining work procedures, preparing work schedules, and expediting workflow; studying and standardizing procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Issuing written and oral instructions; assigning duties and examining work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Responding to public inquiries about recreation programs made by telephone, correspondence, or during public meetings. Preparing for publication a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding recreation programs.
