The ALS Association is Hiring an Equipment Specialist Near Sacramento, CA

By leading the way in global research, providing assistance for people with ALS through a nationwide network of chapters, coordinating multidisciplinary care through certified clinical care centers, and fostering government partnerships, The Association builds hope and enhances quality of life while aggressively searching for new treatments and a cure.

POSITION SUMMARY: Work in partnership with the Care Services team in their efforts to provide programs and services to the ALS community. Specifically, this position manages the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and process Durable Medical Equipment for individuals that are requested through our loan program.
  • Respond as the main point of contact for all equipment related questions.
  • Field questions via phone or email related to durable medical equipment from people with ALS, family or friends and health care professionals.
  • Provide documentation of all interactions in electronic database.
  • Remotely manage DME inventories with CS administrative staff.
  • Work with staff and loan pool vendors to complete yearly on-site inventories.
  • Order items for DME Loan Pool overseeing budgetary considerations with the Manager of Care Services.
  • Responsible for maintaining yearly contracts with equipment vendor.
  • Documents all pertinent engagements with persons living with ALS, family, caregivers, or other healthcare professionals involved with the delivery of care and support in Salesforce.
  • Responsible for educating and informing the general public and professionals about the nature of ALS, its management, related research, and the existence of services of The ALS Association.
  • Meets with the Manger, Care Services to evaluate the need for updates and improvements to the DME/Assistive Technology Program.
  • Works with the Manager, Care Services to uphold the program budget and administers the Assistive Technology programs within the budget.
  • In partnership with the Care Services Team, designs new programs to address client/family needs.
  • Alongside the Manager, Care Services, establish community partnerships that will make an impact financially and to help grow the DME/Assistive Technology Program.
  • Participate in monthly Care Services and all-staff meetings.
  • Assist the Territory in the geographic expansion of the DME/assistive technology program.
  • Participate in annual Audit preparation alongside the Manager, Care Services and Managing Director, Care Services.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) or Occupational Therapist (OT); ATP certification preferred.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment required.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision; must be a self-starter.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a database system.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to travel across the Territory on an as needed basis.
  • Ability to work nights and/or some weekends as required.

Pay Transparency:The ALS Association's pay range for this positionis $41,496 - $46,496 annually.

The ALS Association has compensation ranges for various work locations throughout the United States, allowing us to compensate employees competitively and consistently in diverse geographic markets. The above-listed listed range shows prospective compensation for this role; the appropriate range will be established by what is eventually determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Various factors, including the complexity and significance of the role, job duties/requirements, relevant experience and abilities, and primary work location, determine individual compensation. Compensation ranges are evaluated and typically adjusted on a regular basis. Offers are made within the compensation range that is in effect at the time of the job offer.

The Association may, at its discretion, offer merit-based increases tied to individual performance. The benefits listed may differ depending on employment status with the Association. Healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with employer match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, paid time off and several paid holidays are available to Association employees, among other benefits.
