Position Overview:

The Construction Materials Testing Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and technician teams within the CMT department. This role ensures the quality and accuracy of construction materials testing services in compliance with industry standards and project specifications. The position requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage resources to meet project deadlines and budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and supervise the CMT department’s staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
• Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures to maintain high standards of quality control and assurance.
• Coordinate testing and inspection services, including field and laboratory work, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
• Oversee the preparation and review of technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates for testing services.
• Monitor project progress and provide technical guidance to the team to resolve any issues that arise.
• Liaise with clients, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to maintain relationships and ensure smooth project execution.
• Maintain an updated knowledge of industry trends, new testing methods, and any changes in standards and building codes.
• Ensure the calibration and maintenance of testing equipment and instruments.
• Manage the department’s financial performance, including budgeting and billing, to achieve profitability goals.
• Enforce strict safety protocols and create a culture of safety within the department.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or other relevant certifications (e.g., ACI, NICET).
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction materials testing and engineering, with a proven track record in a leadership/managerial role.
• Proficient in relevant software and current technology for construction materials testing and reporting.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and standards.
• Excellent communication, managerial, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO, and other relevant standards and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects or materials.

· Ability to travel to various job sites and navigate construction environments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
