General George S. Patton School District 133 is Hiring a Behavior Intervention Specialist Near Riverdale, IL

Job Summary: Work closely with individuals with behavioral challenges or developmental disabilities, implementing behavior intervention plans and strategies to promote positive behavior and skill development. This role will involve direct interaction with students, data collection, and collaboration with a team to support individuals in reaching their goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Certification or training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges or developmental disabilities, preferably in a clinical or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and data collection methods.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with individuals, families, and team members.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations and demonstrate patience and empathy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, displaying professionalism and integrity.
  • Proficiency in using technology for data collection and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial assessments to gather information about the student's behavior and needs.
  • Development and implement behavior intervention plans based on assessments and in collaboration with the team.
  • Provide direct support and implement interventions according to the student's behavior plan.
  • Use positive reinforcement strategies and evidence-based techniques to promote desired behaviors and skill acquisition.
  • Collect data on an student's behaviors and progress regularly to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals involved in the student's care to ensure consistency in implementing interventions.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a safe and structured environment that supports positive behavior.
  • Provide training and guidance to parents, caregivers, and other team members on behavior management techniques and strategies.
  • Stay up to date with best practices and research in behavior intervention and attend relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of interventions, progress, and any incidents that occur.
  • SEL Coordinator
  • Establishes individual relationships with each of the referred students to ascertain root causes of school disengagement and disruption.
  • Coordinate with the MTSS/SEL team to design intervention plans for students and groups of students to address factors which drive continued disciplinary infractions and school disengagement.
  • Develop and submit discipline and intervention reports of discipline, activities and measures of program effectiveness to the administration.
  • Work in collaboration with the MTSS/SEL team to develop and maintain a comprehensive system for monitoring the effectiveness of interventions and modifying existing plan components as necessary.
  • Establishes and maintains a communication/referral process with building administrators, and MTSS/SEL team to identify students most in need of intervention, students who have repeated and/or significant discipline referrals.
