How You Will Make an ImpactThe Environmental Engineer will assist in the development and execution of environmental management systems designed to ensure the plants are in compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations and that continuous improvement, pollution prevention, and compliance are a part of the plants’ main goals and objectives. Normal work hours are Monday to Friday, it is expected that the Environmental Engineer will work off-shifts to support the function of this role and is on call as a first line help 24/7 if an undesirable environmental event should occur. The Nuts and BoltsUnderstand the principles of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.Develop, plan and verify the execution of required environmental monitoring programsFollow/establish processes to identify non-compliance conditions and address immediately wherever possible and ensure corrective actions are completed and sustained over timePrepare environmental reports to meet internal and external requirementsMaintains appropriate recordkeeping to meet internal and external record retention requirements.Gather data, analyze, interpret and prepare technical reports as requiredImplement environmental projects and programs both internally and externally under some supervisionSupport and oversee environmental purchased services, Resource Management, Chemical Management, Laboratory Sampling, etc Conduct periodic vendor audits, especially hazardous waste management vendors.Perform analysis or research on environmental engineering projectsInitiate and implement environmental projectsRegularly exchange information with others at local, regional and corporate levelRemain current with new technology and new governmental regulations pertaining to environmental issuesProvide technical assistance for support personnel engaged in design, test and operations.Conduct required environmental training for hourly and salaried personnelAssist in maintaining cost controls.Prepare specifications and/or design drawings to implement environmental issues Required CredentialsBachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field is requiredCertified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certification preferred3-6 years or greater of experience dealing directly with environmental management of a manufacturing operationAble to travel approximately 30%Demonstrated analytical ability to work somewhat independently, investigate and resolve complex environmental problems Able to interface with other departments, staff, suppliers, and customers Basic understanding of current environmental laws and regulations How We Make an ImpactAt Reading Truck, we have more than 65 years of industry leadership in the manufacture, distribution, and enhancement of work truck bodies.
