The Boston Higashi School is Hiring a Physical Education Teacher Near Randolph, MA

JOB GOAL: To develop, organize and implement individual Physical Education curriculum for each student

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Implement Physical Education Program which is a fundamental area of study of Daily Life.
  2. Write and present weekly progress reports related to Physical Education to the Head Teacher; as well as the end of each school term.
  3. Order and supplement all Physical Education materials and instruments as needed by means of a written request to the Head Teacher.
  4. Prepare information (i.e. educational assessment, Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives, quarterly progress reports) and /or attend periodical I.E.P. meetings.
  5. Have knowledge of the entire curriculum for times when covering classrooms in a teacher’s absence.
  6. Attend teacher meetings and inservice meetings.
  7. Coordinate students’ participation in Special Olympics activities. 
  8. Study and develop further knowledge of the philosophy and techniques of Daily Life Therapy, as well as recent developments in physical education.
  9. Provide and implement a physically safe environment for all students in all situations.
  10. Develop an environment that is organized and stimulating and reflective of the student’s participation in the creation of this environment.
  11. Participate in all student activities including: extensive physical exercise, various forms of exercise including lifting, standing squatting and jogging one to three times daily.
  12. Adhere to school policies pertaining to all aspects of students’ rights and student affairs.
  13. Adhere to school policies pertaining to personnel and other governing agencies.
  14. Maintain an open, honest and tactful relationship with parents and other individuals involved with the students.
  15. Respond to parents inquiries or phone calls promptly, respectfully and discreetly and record according to the designated procedures.
  16. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with parents and others.
  17. Contribute as a member of a team and accept the decision of the team.
  18. Serve as an active participant on the Event Committee to plan and coordinate all school events. 
  19. Assist other staff in the performance of their tasks as requested or as needs become apparent.
  20. Support classroom teachers with the teaching of Daily Life Therapy as needed (snack, lunch, changing time, break time, or whenever needed).
  21. Attend daily division meeting, monthly parent study meetings.
  22. Attend morning meeting and afternoon meeting;
  23. Perform all other duties as assigned by Master Teacher, Division Directors and/or Director of Programming.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or related field
  • Minimum one (1) year teaching experience with emphasis on Physical Education
  • Daily Life Therapy training a plus
  • Must possess initiative, and excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to work in multicultural environment
