The Intellectual Property – Patents Group in the Raleigh office has an immediate opening for a biotechnology patent agent or patent specialist.
This patent agent/patent specialist position involves working in Raleigh, NC with a team of lawyers and patent agents, each holding an advanced degree in a life science field. Responsibilities include identifying inventions through technical discussions with inventors, drafting and prosecuting patent applications directed to emerging technologies, coordinating prosecution of patent applications in other jurisdictions, conducting searches to distinguish inventions from the current state of the art, and preparing reports and other support documentation to assist in the management of patent portfolios.
The patent agent/patent specialist must hold a Ph.D. in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or a closely related discipline, and no previous years of experience are required. Recent graduate students are welcome to apply. To be considered for the position, the patent agent/technical specialist must further demonstrate strong technical skills, excellent writing skills, exceptional attention to technical detail, and effective communication and organizational skills.
