The Heritage Community is Hiring a LEAD REGISTERED NURSE (Full-Time) Near Provo, UT

The Heritage Community is a residential treatment program for adolescents, ages 13 – 18. Our Medical Center provides psychiatric, dietary, and medicinal care for our students, and we currently seek to hire a Registered Nurse to be a dynamic leader for our Medical Center team! We are looking for a mature, friendly, and energetic candidate who can work well with our students and their families to fulfill nursing needs. Schedule:
  • Monday – Friday. Mandatory shift coverage is Monday - Friday 9 - 5 pm.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial nursing assessments on newly admitted students.
  • Perform assessments for illnesses, injuries, etc. and provide clear instructions for after care.
  • Pour, pass, and chart all scheduled medications to the students, as well as PRN’s.
  • Maintain complete and accurate medical records on all youth that service is provided to.
  • Administer TB tests and other vaccines, as required.
  • Perform lab draws and drug screening tests, as needed.
  • Report to medical emergencies on campus, and work with emergency services if called in.
  • Communicate frequently with parents/guardians on the medicinal care of their child — answering inquiries, submitting requests, and appropriately handling complaints or grievances.
  • Infection control:
    • Monitor and track infections among students and staff.
    • Report findings to health department and executive leadership.
    • Provide infection control education to students and staff.
    • Develop and implement infection prevention programs on campus.
Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Aptitude of adolescent development, with proficiency in working with an adolescent population.
  • Excellent customer service skills with strong active listening to efficiently communicate and provide medicinal care successfully with students, families, and employees.
  • Fundamental knowledge and understanding of psychology terms and diagnoses.
  • Attentive and observant in all tasks and paperwork.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills to take accurate and suitable actions considering an emergency incident or situation.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA standards and rules as they apply to healthcare.
Qualifications:
  • Completed Associates degree in Nursing required. 
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Nursing desired.
  • Minimum 1-year nursing field experience, including any previous work an RN, CNA, MA, etc.
  • Current Utah RN license.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Must be 20 years of age or older to apply.
  • Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
