POSITION SUMMARY:Serves as the nutrition services content area expert, is a resource and provides related expertise to the Health and Nutrition Services Area. Directs the delivery of quality food and nutrition services program-wide in order to meet the nutritional needs of enrolled children including those with special dietary needs and ensures compliance with Head Start Performance Standards as well as state and county standards. Maintains awareness of changing Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations. Develops and implements nutrition services training for teachers, cooks and assistant cooks and provides ongoing support to center staff. Observes and evaluates the implementation of point of service meal counts, portion sizes during meal service, and hygiene and sanitation in the classroom as it relates to food service. Calls attention to non-compliance areas and participates in developing plans for changes with food service and classroom staff. Supports the health services aspects of the service area and the agency's school readiness plan. Functionally supervises cooks and assistant cooks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Production Management or related field. A Registered or Certified Dietitian is preferred.

•Two years experience working with the delivery of nutrition services preferred. Prior work experience with Head Start & CACFP is desirable.

•Three years relevant supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education with demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate operations in personnel supervision, communications, and budget management.

•ServSafe Certification or the ability to gain certification within 60 days of employment.
