Salary Range: $83,225- $167,510

Detailed Description
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Participating in the formulation of current and long-range plans for transportation;
Consulting and assisting Transportation Supervisors and Analysts with the revision and preparation of bus schedules;
Evaluating bus routes and time schedules for both regular and special education;
Making corrections to improve the routes and times;
Creating and analyzing GPS and Routing reports;
Respond to email and phone inquiries from persons requesting information on bus routes and stop locations;
Working with parents, principals, central staff members, PTA's and other interested groups in seeking solutions to transportation problems;
Assuring adherence to bus inspection schedules, as prescribed by State law;
Working with County and State agencies on establishing bus stops and pull-offs;
Considerable knowledge of special education in transporting students with disabilities;
Some knowledge of fleet management as it relates to school bus transportation;
Some knowledge of union contracts with the ability to negotiate transportation policies and procedures;
Assisting in school closings or early dismissal due to weather or emergency situations; Preparing reports and studies for the Director; and
Performs additional duties as required.
Job Requirements
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Considerable knowledge of the operation and scheduling of school buses; Commercial driver's license or ability to acquire one within a year preferred;
Knowledge of the principles of fleet and traffic management;
Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written forms;
Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Routing software);
Ability to supervise effectively and perform administrative functions independently;
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with diverse populations;
Ability to create a positive environment that values and respects stakeholders and employees;
Ability to travel to all schools in the District;
Availability to work after hours and on weekends as necessary, and
Good knowledge of Motor Vehicle laws and Regulations of the State Board of Education.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree required from an accredited college or university with major work in Transportation, Education, Public Administration, Business or other related area; and considerable experience in the school transportation field including field and office functions.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
None required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises and works with Transportation Supervisors on daily operational challenges.

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
