Job Title: Grant Writer 

Organization: Southeastern Regional Development Agency

Location: Southeastern Utah (Carbon, Emery, Grand and San Juan Counties) 

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000

Job Description:

SERDA is seeking a talented and experienced Grant Writer to join our team and help secure funding from foundational, state, and federal sources. The ideal candidate will have a passion for our mission and a proven track record of successful grant writing. This is an in-office position with the opportunity for occasional in-person meetings and collaboration with communities and stakeholders in southeastern Utah.

This is a full-time position with full benefits, which include the following; Utah Retirement System (URS), medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, paid time off (annual and sick leave).

Responsibilities:

  • Research potential grant opportunities from foundations, state agencies, and federal government programs.
  • Write compelling grant proposals that effectively communicate our organization's objectives, activities, and impact.
  • Develop accurate and realistic budgets for grant proposals in collaboration with the appropriate staff and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that grant proposals and applications adhere to all guidelines, regulations, and deadlines set forth by funding sources.
  • Prepare progress reports, financial reports, and other documentation required by funders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with foundation program officers, state agency representatives, and federal grant administrators.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local elected officials, city/county staff, community stakeholders, state agency representatives, and federal partners.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive grant strategy that aligns with our organization's overall fundraising goals.
  • Monitor the status of grant applications and proposals throughout the submission process.
  • Stay updated on changes in grantmaking trends, policies, and regulations at the foundational, state, and federal levels.
  • Aim to have a success rate of 20% - 30% of grants written. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or Public Administration) OR minimum of 2 years of experience in grant writing, preferably in a nonprofit or public sector setting.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive grant proposals.
  • Excellent research skills with the ability to identify relevant funding opportunities.
  • Proficiency in budget development and financial reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with grant management software and online grant portals is a plus.
