Connelly School of the Holy Child is a Catholic, college preparatory school, committed to the intellectual, spiritual, artistic, physical, and social development of young women in grades 6 through 12. The school emphasizes academic challenge, joy of learning, and education of well-rounded women of faith and action. This position will primarily be teaching dance and assisting with dance events and performances in the school. The successful candidate will teach dance classes, choreograph dance routines for performances, and take on other responsibilities based on the school’s needs and the teacher’s individual interests. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dance, experience teaching different styles of dance, a passion for working with young dancers, and the ability to inspire a love for dance in their students. 

Responsibilities:

· Teach dance classes for various grade levels

· Design and implement dance curriculum, including creating lesson plans and choreographing routines for performances to include Middle & Upper School Musical, and Dance Concert Performances

· Prepare students for dance performances, including rehearsals and costume selection

· Assist with organizing and coordinating dance events and performances in the school

· Attend professional development workshops and conferences to stay current with dance techniques and trends. Create original choreography, teach and notate dance steps and formations, clean dance combinations, teach students techniques and dance steps, and run fitness conditioning warm-ups

· Collaborate with the visual and performing arts faculty and other members of the school community to present a program that encourages young artist to develop their potential and foster their appreciation of live theatre.

· Bachelor’s Degree in Dance or relevant field (required)

· Master’s Degree in Dance or relevant field (preferred)

· Professional dance experience and a strong background in different styles of dance and choreography

· Experienced, patient communicator who can teach dance to students of various ages and skill levels

· Knowledge of dance curriculum development and lesson planning

· Strong communication and collaboration skills

· Ability to inspire and motivate students to develop a love for dance
