The successful candidate will be proficient in the use of various light construction equipment necessary for performing road maintenance and repair projects such as: forklifts, aerial lift trucks, tree chippers, skid-steer loaders, vibratory rollers, plate compactors, walk-behind concrete/asphalt saws.
General DescriptionPerforms skilled work in the operation of large vehicles and equipment.
Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Minimum Education And Experience RequirementsRequires one (1) year operating heavy equipment related to area of assignment or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and LicensesPossess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License Class B or higher for duration of appointment.
Preferences
- Associates or vocational degree in heavy equipment operation or closely related field.
- State of Florida issued Class "A" Commercial Driver's License.
- Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Certification.
- Broward County Certificate of Competency or State certification for related roadway construction.
- Storm-water Certification.
- Tree-trimming Certification.
- At least one (1) year of experience with asphalt, drainage, guardrails or concrete construction on roadways
Performs operator pre-checks on equipment; checks lubricants, cooling systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems; makes necessary minor adjustments and reports malfunctions to supervisor.
Performs related work as assigned.
