Should have an excellent ability to learn and apply technical data modeling expertise and be responsible for preparing data for analytical or operational uses in alignment with the Data & Analytics (D&A) strategy.

Ability to learn design, solutioning and integrity of master and transactional data in Enterprise Applications including SAP S/4HANA and other allied and/or integrated systems in support of the data analytics goals and objectives of the Corporation. Primary responsibility is to gain a good understanding of Enterprise data and assist in integration, consolidation, cleansing, and structure it for use in analytics applications. Requires an eye for detail and willingness to perform hands-on analysis and development in addition to system management tasks to design, build and implement Enterprise Analytics solutions. Works to identify, analyze, verify, extract, load, and transform (ELT) data using data engineering tools including but not limited to Matillion and Snowflake to support analytics enterprise reporting tools such as ThoughtSpot & SAP Business Intelligence Suite (BOBJ). Participates in monitoring and optimizing data flows, D&A and related reporting initiatives. Focus on innovation and leveraging the new capabilities of the enterprise systems and from the analytics industry.

What You Do.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Under the direction of the Manager – Data Engineering:

As a member of an Agile (SAFe) team, participates in Agile team activities and specifically focused on supporting D&A, related reporting, platforms, and tools. May include but not limited to:

  • Basic understanding of data modeling concepts such as good understanding relational database, multi-dimensional modeling, star schema, facts and dimension tables.
  • Assists & supports in identifying data sources, develops and verifies data extraction, loading, and transformation (ELT) between various Enterprise and/or integrated systems.
  • Working knowledge of SQL programming.
  • Familiarity using D&A tools including but not limited to Matillion, Snowflake, ThoughtSpot, SAP Business Intelligence Suite (BOBJ) and/or SAP HANA to execute data management processes, data modeling, and data replication tasks in full compliance with formal change management and other governance protocols.
  • Understands Entity/Relationship diagrams and has passion to learn data catalog tools such as Atlan for Data Dictionary, Data Profiling artifacts, data flow diagrams, Meta Data creation, and data sourcing plans as needed.
  • Supports Enterprise Application system upgrades and support package applications as well as any new product implementations from D&A perspective.
  • Good expertise in using MS Excel and proficient in Microsoft tools such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design scalable solutions to meet business needs.
  • Be able to solution problems from different perspectives, identify risks and devise solution options for them.

Performs regular quality, maintenance and training activities which may include:

  • Monitor and support data flow operations. Able to analyze issue and suggest resolution steps to resume normal updates and operations.
  • Analyze and validate data integrity across the data engineering landscape in Enterprise Applications including, but not limited to SAP S/4HANA and SAP SCM.
  • Help ensure the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of our data systems.
  • Supports Data Governance in development and continuous improvement of standards to ensure accurate data collection, processing, modeling, and analysis.
  • Assist in training for stakeholders to ensure adherence to standards and facilitate high adoption of the tools supporting the organization’s big data ecosystem.

Provides effective user support including:

  • Able to analyze Incidents and inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about system processes or configuration in a timely manner.
  • Effectively researches troubleshooting and provides system improvement opportunities using the various vendor support portals or processes.
  • Responds to all off-hour calls regarding D&A, specifically data issues in a prompt and reasonable timeframe. Responsible for being accessible to receive off-hour calls by carrying a functioning cell phone at all times, except when on vacation, to facilitate prompt problem resolution.

Your Education and Experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field from four-year college or university with an emphasis on Data Engineering or Data Science.
  • 1 – 2 years relevant experience with preference of at least 1 year of data engineering and modeling experience.
  • Good ability to understand techno-functional concepts and abstract reasoning.
  • Experience with SQL programming, Snowflake, Matillion systems and S4/HANA data preferred.
  • Knowledge of Python programming is a plus.
  • Working and engaging in an Agile team environment a plus.
