Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging recreational programs and activities for residents based on their interests, abilities, and preferences.
- Plan, organize, and lead group activities, outings, and events to promote social interaction, physical activity, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with staff, residents, and families to assess individual needs and interests, ensuring inclusivity and participation for all residents.
- Maintain activity calendars, schedules, and documentation of resident participation and feedback.
- Coordinate with external vendors, volunteers, and entertainers to enhance the variety and quality of activities offered.
- Ensure the safety and supervision of residents during activities, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Create and manage budgets for activity-related expenses, seeking cost-effective solutions.
- Train and supervise activity assistants or volunteers to support activity programming.
- Foster a positive and welcoming environment that encourages resident engagement and enjoyment.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding upcoming events and activities.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to incorporate therapeutic and rehabilitative activities into programming when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in recreational programming or working with the elderly population is advantageous.
- Creativity and enthusiasm in developing diverse and stimulating activities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to plan and execute multiple activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff.
- Ability to adapt activities to accommodate varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities.
- Understanding of the emotional and physical needs of the elderly population.
