Type: TribalSalary Range: $55,581 to $57,429 / Per Year Open Period: 5/11/2015 to 6/30/2015 Summary: POSITION SUMMARY: The Fund Development Specialist has a primary role in contract and grant application development activities and procurement of funds through charitable giving campaigns, events and actions. Responsibilities include program development activities to meet the emerging needs of urban American Indians and other underserved populations. The Fund Development Specialist will facilitate activities to diversify agency funding, enabling program sustainability and agency growth. Other duties include research for funding opportunities, seek funding as appropriate and available to address identified community needs as consistent with the NATIVE HEALTH Mission Statement and approved by the Board of Directors. The Fund Development Specialist will have a pivotal role in project startup upon grant award. The Fund Development Specialist will report directly to the Development Director. Duties: RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:1. Research to determine community need for programs and applicable funding sources. 2. Facilitate development of program plans that fit within funding requirements and address identified targeted service gap. 3. Develop and submit program plans and applications targeted to government and foundation funding resources. 4. Facilitate planning and project development meetings to elicit relevant staff input for program development within the guidelines of the funding source.5. Expand community giving program. 6. Assist the Development Director in developing and implementing charitable giving and fundraising activities. (Create and oversee fundraising and donor cultivation events.)7. Identify prospects, develop and propose strategies for the cultivation of corporations and engage them in annual partnerships.8. Work with the Board of Director to develop and facilitate an annual fundraising event. 9. Assist in activities to facilitate needs assessments to determine community need for agency expansion and program planning. 10. Develop documents and special projects as assigned. 11. Performs other duties as assigned.12. Submit monthly activity reports as requested to enable monthly reporting to the board and relevant stakeholders. 13. Participate in professional and ethical upgrading activities such as workshops, seminars and conferences in addition to other educational opportunities that relate to developing agency capacity and program planning. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:1. Grant writing experience and skills. 2. Fundraising experience and capability.3. Knowledge of the cultural, social, and economic background of the populations being served. (NATIVE HEALTH targets services to American Indians of diverse tribal backgrounds and underserved populations generally consisting of low income ethnic and racial minority populations.) 4. Knowledge of medical, behavioral health and wellness services. 5. Organizational capabilities. 6. Ability to multi-task. 7. Ability to meet hard deadlines 8. Capabilities to interact successfully with representatives of potential funding and/or partner agencies including government, non-profit and private sector entities. Qualifications: QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:1. A Bachelor’s degree level of qualifications. 2. Minimum of two years of grant writing experience and an established record for successful grant procurement from government and foundation resources. 3. Minimum of two years of experience in successful solicitation of charitable gifts from corporations and individuals. 4. Possess a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver’s license (within 30 days of hire if applicant is from out-of-state) with no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in the last five years. No more than two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Must maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license during employment. Must be insurable by NATIVE HEALTH liability auto policy.5. Must pass a criminal background check with a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within the initial ninety (90) calendar days of employment.6. Must pass a substance abuse testing upon employment, and submit to a random testing during the course of employment. 7. Must have a current Tuberculosis (TB) skin report upon employment and provide an update annually.8. Must obtain a CPR Card within ninety (90) calendar days of employment and maintain a valid CPR card during employment.
