Salary Range: 65,000 – 75,000 USD Annually
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Total compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
ABOUT THE TEAM: We are a small but mighty five-day-a-week editorial operation in which team members must be creative, helpful multi-taskers. This is a great job for someone who likes to take responsibility for a project and run with it, as well as someone who may want to transition from a traditional reporting role to a news leadership position.
The PropertyCasualty360.com Managing Editor helps steer a small team of insurance journalists who generate daily, industry-specific news and contribute to larger projects including professional recognition programs, periodic research, podcasts, webcasts, white papers, conferences and other dynamic multimedia tasks. We are looking for a smart, organized news leader who is also a team player. This person takes pride in supporting and empowering colleagues while also generating their own superior B2B journalism.
Responsibilities:
  • Through interviews, research, reporting and writing, you will become an ad hoc expert in the issues, challenges and acumen of our specific audience of property and casualty-insurance professionals.
  • Write and edit both short and long-form trade-news articles.
  • Oversee editorial and production processes for PropertyCasualty360.com.
  • Deploy e-newsletters and ensure all assignment deadlines are met in a timely manner.
  • Use available analytics tools to track and report on content performance.
  • Ensure themed news channels are stocked with fresh content.
  • Assign tasks to staff editors and freelancers as needed.
  • Assist in shaping a data-driven editorial strategy, which may include but is not limited to easily-digestible listacles, compelling executive interviews, topical features, podcasts, webcasts, and enterprise reporting.
  • Edit and review all website content for style, accuracy and readability; check and review all graphics.
  • Participate in the organization and planning of newsletters and special print editions.
  • Assist with periodic one-off digital media projects.
  • Attend occasional industry events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant business-news or digital-media work experience.
  • Strong editorial, communications, digital media and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to thoroughly gather information, digest complicated topics, write for a target audience, and deliver assignments on time.
  • Creative thinker with an enthusiasm for new-media innovations.
  • Basic understanding of audience metrics data and its applications.
  • Basic understanding of the insurance and/or financial services industries is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to two weeks per year.
