Position: Grants Coordinator

Position Type: Full-Time, Hybrid

Location: Peoria Service Center, 507 E. Armstrong Ave., Peoria, Illinois

Position Objective: The Grants Coordinator is responsible for researching and securing funding opportunities that align with Easterseals Central Illinois' mission and priorities. This role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive plan for grant applications and ensuring that all proposals are prepared, submitted, and tracked in compliance with funder requirements and deadlines.

Job Functions

  • Research potential funding sources, including new or previously untapped opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a long-term plan for submitting grant applications that support organizational priorities.
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals, ensuring adherence to all requirements and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and data for grant applications.
  • Analyze funder requirements outlined in RFPs, facilitate multi-disciplinary discussions on program concepts, and prepare concept papers to share with the grant team.
  • Coordinate the grant writing process and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Regularly review grant status with appropriate staff to ensure accurate tracking and maintenance of data.
  • Provide financial tracking for grants received, including preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports, reviewing expenditures, and reconciling spending.
  • Monitor grant compliance and oversee the implementation of funded programs to meet all regulatory and reporting obligations.
  • Maintain a master calendar of grants and prospects, along with all associated files and correspondence.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners, auditors, grantors, third-party payers, providers, and other departments.

Marginal Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liaison with various community organizations.
  • Works with President & CEO, Vice President of Clinical Services, and Senior Accountant on budget development and annual audits.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Public Administration, Economics, Business Administration, Communications, Social Work, Political Science, or a related field, preferred.
  • Two years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, or grants management, preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job will be considered.

Competency Requirements

  • Demonstrated administrative, organizational, strategic planning, and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to produce quality documents and presentations.
  • Analytical skills necessary for data interpretation and application in line with organizational and funder requirements.
  • Working knowledge of human service program development and delivery.
  • Ability to identify potential funding sources from a range of funders and match them with program development goals.
  • Ability to manage grant applications, including budget and all required reporting.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and software (MS Office Suite).

  • Must have visual ability sufficient to read and complete written correspondence, reports, etc., and computer screen information.
  • Frequent use of hands to grasp, handle, or feel.
  • Regular standing, walking, sitting, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Ability to drive to all Easterseals centers and service sites within a 100-mile radius, as needed.

Work Environment

  • Routinely works in office environments with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature.
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
