FIREFIGHTERS FIRST FEDERAL CREDIT UNION is Hiring an Accountant I Near Pasadena, CA

This is an in office position. Candidates must live in/around Pasadena, CA.

For over 88 years, we have worked to create trusting relationships with our fire family. The bonds we build are the foundation of our credit union. As the largest, exclusive firefighter credit union in the nation with over $2.0B in assets, we serve over 64,000 members in more than 1,000 fire departments. 

Currently, we have an immediate opening for a Accountant Ito join our team! The Accountant I is responsible for providing general accounting support. This includes assisting with a variety of general ledger activities, accounts payable, remittances, wire transfers, research, and reconciliations while adhering to established accounting practices, standards and GAAP.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performing multiple general accounting tasks, such as daily posting to general ledgers, conducting routine research for clearing entries, completing general ledger account reconciliations with documentation of outages, and performing Regional and Corporate Office cash balancing to the general ledger.
  •  Reviewing and distributing mail daily for the department including processing vendor/tenant checks.
  • Performing Accounts Payable duties including managing vendor relationships, processing invoices for payment, and processing federal tax reporting forms (1099-MISC).
  • Performing Accounts Receivable duties including ensuring timely collection of rental income, miscellaneous income and expense refunds.
  • Processing Assets & Prepaids including maintaining subledgers in accordance with current policies and procedures.
  • Performing wire transfer processing duties including processing all incoming and outgoing member and corporate wire transfers in accordance with current policies, procedures and regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in general financial accounting with basic knowledge of accounting theory and principles or formal accounting training.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including preparing spreadsheets in Excel and creating Word documents
