Palos Heights Rehabilitation is a long-term / short-term skilled nursing facility located in a quiet neighborhood of Crestwood, Illinois.

We are currently hiring for the Cook position

A Cook prepares and assists with food preparation for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while following specific dietary restrictions and provides alternatives for our residents.

The cooks are responsible for maintaining clean, organized and stocked workstations while keeping in compliance with federal and state regulations.

It is the responsibility of a cook to successfully prepare and serve meals. Cooks also complete hands on training with new employees in accordance with the dietary department orientation training checklist.

Some experience in institutional cooking preferred.

Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation and hygienic methods a must.

Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

Sincere desire to work with elders and others who have a limited capacity for self-care.

Mental & physical capacity to perform the essential job functions with or without accommodations.

Work with and provides care to individuals of a wide range of personality types and maturity levels.

Consistently maintain courteous, empathic, and professional attitude.

Maintain confidentiality of all activities and persons.

Maintain a professional appearance at all times.

Communicate and comprehend orally and in writing to effectively receive and share information as necessary to perform job duties.

Transportation accessible to enable flexibility of work schedule.

Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action

Must be knowledgeable of dietary procedures

Food handler's license and Sanitation license preferred.

Excellent attendance and punctuality is a must.

This position is fast paced and physical. Whole shift minus break times are spent standing, walking, push / pulling carts etc..

Must be able to lift / push / pull up to 50lbs.

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
