Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThis position is responsible for general cleaning and sanitation tasks in various areas of the facility including washing tanks and baskets in the production and utilize a variety of NSP processes, equipment, or tools to meet production standards or specifications.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Assist in the cleaning and sanitation of equipment, work areas, and production spaces.
  • Handle waste disposal in accordance with company and environmental regulations.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, such as power washers and sanitizing tools.
  • Support production teams by supplying materials, assisting with setup, and performing general tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Adhere to safety and hygiene standards to guarantee product quality.
  • Follow established procedures for the proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Collaborate with other departments to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, And Experience)
  • Previous experience in meat processing preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation, and safety practices.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and perform basic maintenance tasks.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy equipment or materials.
  • Knowledge of food safety, quality control and hygiene practices is a plus.
  • Ability to work in cold and/or refrigerated environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and regulated environment.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English with strong verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Spanish is helpful, but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to have a full range of body motion including twisting, bending, reaching outward, pushing, pulling, intensive hand/wrist movement and lifting to meet the NSP minimum required pounds per day which is 50-80 pounds or more (unassisted). The employee must be able to walk and stand for a significant amount of time on even concrete surfaces, which may at times be slippery due to marinades, water, and other liquids associated with the production process.
Due to noise levels in the work environment, the use of hearing protection is required. The employee must have good, corrected vision to see details at close range or at a distance. The employee will be working in a climate-controlled environment of -40ºF to -45ºF. The employee may be exposed to strong odors such as raw meat and marinades from seasoned meat.
While in the production area, the employee is required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include hair and beard nets, rubber soled shoes, smocks, hearing protection and hard hats.
SummaryAssigned under the general supervision of the Production Supervisor to wash tanks and baskets in the production and utilize a variety of NSP processes, equipment, or tools to meet production standards or specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
  • Must be able to firmly grip all tools used with dominant hand, using proper technique to complete the required tasks
  • Visually inspect products or completed tasks
  • Must be able to ensure products are within specification
  • Required to wear all safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) such as mesh gloves, wrist protectors, earmuffs, hair and beard nets, and rubber soled shoes
  • May be required to “fill-in” for other positions when there is a need.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Will train as necessary allowing 60-90 days to reach and maintain minimum daily production standards

Ability to apply disciplined knowledge to analyze and resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Required to stand at waist high table for up to three (3) hours before taking a break
  • The ability to maintain one’s balance while performing the required work tasks is essential
  • Works at waist high counter with arms extended below shoulder level
  • Walks/stands on even concrete surface, which may at times be slippery due to marinates, water, and other liquids associated with the production process
  • Requires intensive hand/wrist movement to meet the NSP minimum required pounds per day (see above)
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • The job is fast paced and the ability to deal with stress is essential
  • May be exposed to strong odors such as marinate from seasoned meat
Full time regular position that works Monday through Friday, generally 8 hours per day, with minimal overtime. Travel is not required for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • The office environment is typically climate controlled of 68ºF to 72ºF and clean, with normal air contaminants, such as dust, typically found in an office environment
  • The indoor production environment is climate-controlled of -40ºF to 45ºF with regular exposure to prolonged noise
While in the production area, all employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include hair and beard nets, rubber soled shoes, smocks, hearing protection and hard hats.
