Responsibilities:
- Perform tool maintenance, repair, and modification activities to ensure optimal performance and longevity of dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures.
- Set up and operate a variety of tools and equipment including presses, milling machines, grinders, lathes, and EDM machines to fabricate, modify, and repair tooling components.
- Inspect and measure parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify conformance to specifications.
- Analyze and troubleshoot tooling issues, making necessary adjustments or repairs to ensure proper functioning and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop and implement improvements to tooling designs, processes, and workflows.
- Assist in the installation and setup of new tooling and equipment, ensuring they meet production requirements and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of tooling maintenance, repairs, and adjustments.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe working environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational training in toolmaking or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Tool Maker/Die Setter in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of tooling materials, machining processes, and precision measuring instruments.
- Proficiency in operating toolroom machinery such as mills, grinders, lathes, and EDM machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Solid understanding of die setting techniques and practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in measurements and adjustments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
