Job Purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Fabrication Foreman, the Machine Operator/Fabricator assists in the creation of metal framing and support structures for use in commercial window and metal panel installation, by specializing in door hardware. Serving multiple internal stakeholders, the highly functioning Fabricator/Machinist will have a general knowledge of and experience in the commercial construction industry, a working knowledge of blueprints and schematics, will be proficient at use of basic electrical and hand tools for assembling final products, and will have the mental acuity and dexterity to manage intricate hardware.

Essential Functions

• Understand basic construction principals that are sufficient to:
  • Use basic construction tools and equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, or other specifications
  • Cut, fit, weld, grind, and otherwise assemble metal pieces into final products
• Maintain attention to detail throughout the fabrication process, to eliminate errors
• Unload, arrange, and load fabrication materials by hand or using warehouse equipment
• Communicate with project managers, supervisors, and other staff regarding work progress
• Keep job sites clean and organized
• Maintain good relationships with staff

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, plus overtime.

• lift weight up to 65 pounds individually, and more with a team

Minimum Required Education and Experience

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. One-year of work experience in a similar function
3. Insurable driving record

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Experience working in construction, manufacturing, or other similar field

2. Forklift certificate and/or experience

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a warehouse/manufacturing environment. This role routinely operates commercial grade equipment: saws, drills, and other noisy fabrication equipment.
