This individual excels in designing and deploying organizational change in complex organizations, with a deep understanding of management principles, including budgeting, strategic planning, and human resource management.They are a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion, adept at consensus building and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. With exceptional communication skills, they effectively articulate messages to various audiences and influence others towards a common vision/goal. Flexible and adaptable, they thrive in ambiguous situations, leveraging their acute Prosci experience to navigate organizational challenges and drive successful outcomes.This individual will be responsible for leading organizational change management practices, ensuring successful execution of high-priority and high-risk projects. They will guide the “people side of change,” align resources, and manage a team of up to 8 FTEs. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The Organizational Change Manager is crucial in steering the agency through critical and high stakes change initiatives, aligning them with strategic objectives and federal mandates and activating a team of Change Managers. The incumbent will be entrusted with the decision-making authority, supervision, and governance of change management practices, significantly affecting policies and operations that touch the lives of over 300,000 customers and 200,000 businesses across Washington state. The position requires exceptional proficiency in project management, change management, and strategic operational planning. Additionally, the role involves leading and nurturing a team with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Some of your duties may include: Strategic Direction: Providing strategic direction and operational clarity for Organizational Change Management in the agency.Standard Practices: Developing standard practices and expectations agency-wide for change management.Execution Oversight: Overseeing the execution of organizational change implementation and deployment standards, governance processes, and performance metrics.Coaching Leaders: Teaching and/or coaching agency leaders at all levels the skills of effective sponsorship for change management.Developing Practitioners: Coaching, mentoring, and developing OCM practitioners in the application of OCM tools to support projects.Consulting ELT: Consulting with Executive Leadership Team members and sustaining sponsors to cascade the adoption of effective change management practices.Change Management Training: Assessing the need for Change Management training(s) and developing or obtaining training to meet any defined needs.Enterprise Capabilities: Building enterprise capabilities to institutionalize change management as a core competency.Risk Management: Managing risks and coaching leaders to resolve issues that affect change adoption and implementation.Change Impact Consultation: Providing consultation on the design of strategies and critical actions needed to address staff readiness throughout the development and implementation process.Deployment Collaboration: Collaborating with DES OCM Community of Practice and other state agency OCM leaders to identify opportunities for sharing best practices.
