J.H.FITZMAURICE is Hiring a Cost Estimator (multiple openings) Near Oakland, CA

Job Location: J.H. Fitzmaurice, Inc., 2857 Hannah Street, Oakland, CA 94608 USA

With a moderate level of independent decision-making capability and minimum supervision, the Cost
Estimator will be responsible for the following job duties:

1. Analyze and prepare financial forecasting and expense modeling of future construction projects
incorporating differing variables including: constructability, duration, and profitability.
2. Participate in meetings with subcontractors to develop complete scopes and discuss strategy.
3. Deal with local contractors and construction officials representing the government regarding
procurement of goods, design approval and construction authorization.
4. Perform budget development/submission, detailed and comprehensive quantity survey experience
with On-Screen Takeoff (OST) or other equivalent software, accurate cost evaluations,
subcontractor/supplier bid solicitations, subcontractor/supplier scope/qualification/cost evaluations,
risk evaluations, and participating in bid/no bid decisions and bid submissions.
5. Confer with project management team to prepare changes and adjustments for successful
estimates for construction.
6. Review drawings, specifications and proposed project site conditions; record findings and solicit
input from field operations to include in final project estimate.
7. Analyze alternative solutions and construction methods to increase competitiveness of the bid.
8. Analyze and communicate bidding risks, strategies and present estimate/bid to Senior/Chief
Estimator for review to ensure accuracy and completeness.
9. Communicate estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings to ensure
understanding of scope of job.
10. Provide scope definition and systems development direction for outside vendors and suppliers,
mechanical and electrical subcontractors including scope, terms and conditions, bid
forms, and contract reviews.
11. Maintain relationships with key individuals to ensure preferred pricing where possible.
Investigates local efforts with Integrated Supplier Organizations to obtain best available pricing for
project estimates.
12. Follow cost estimating methods and procedures on new assignments.
13. Interact with senior internal and external personnel.
14. Participate in resolution to complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-
depth evaluation of various factors. Work is accomplished without considerable
direction.
15. Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future
discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.
16. Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect
cost reductions.
This position requires a U.S. Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil/Construction Eng or
closely related and one (1) year as a Project/Const. Engr, Cost Estimator, or closely related
occupation.

Must have experience with:
1. Bluebeam;
2. Plangrid;
3. Microsoft Excel;
4. Microsoft Project;
5. Building Connected;
6. Financial forecasting and expense modeling;7. Comprehensive quantity survey experience with On-Screen Takeoff (OST);
8. Subcontractor/supplier bid solicitations;
9. Project management;
10. Scope definition and systems development;
11. Cost estimating methods; and
12. Data analysis.

Salary: $96,000.00 – $99,000.00 per year. Full-Time.
