Well-established Workers' Comp [Applicant’s] law firm seeking a dynamic lawyer looking to make a difference in the lives of clients. This is a wonderful opportunity for a California-licensed attorney to develop and grow. Recently barred attorneys are encouraged to apply and will be trained by the partner in all aspects of Applicant Worker’s Compensation litigation, negotiation, deposition work, discovery and brief writing. Attorneys with Worker’s Compensation experience are encouraged to apply as well and compensation will be commensurate with experience. The law firm is looking to continue growing the practice so the selected candidate will have great upward mobility opportunities in the firm as they gain experience.

Requirements:

• A proven track record of being responsible, professional and results-oriented
• Excellent client handling and communication skills
• Ability to act independently but seek advice when needed
• Extremely organized and honest
• Able to admit mistakes, learn from them and be receptive to development coaching
• Able to handle the demands of a busy law office
• Motivated to help injured workers and a team player
• Must be a member of California Bar

What you will do:

• Effectively conduct client meetings, intakes and maintain clients abreast of developments in their case in a professional manner
• Understand Worker’s Compensation principals and apply them to cases
• Establish action plan based on case facts, best practices, protocols and legal considerations
• Plan and conduct claim investigations to determine liability, compensability and damages
• Negotiate with insurance companies and opposing counsel and represent our clients in court
• Provide updates regarding the status of cases and seek advice on challenges
• Draft and respond to discovery, draft motions and motion responses, conduct legal research, and legal writing
• Manage, oversee and supervise other law firm personnel like legal assistants and paralegals
• Work with experts from various medical and other disciplines
