Job Purpose Manage all facets of cell operations applying world class manufacturing techniques in the pursuit of continuous improvement for process, quality, service, products and environment. Essential Duties Proactively identify and implement continuous quality and cost improvements as it relates to cell operations. Set and communicate expectations for employees; monitor performance and give recognition when appropriate. Take corrective action when necessary. Recognize employees for performance which meets or exceeds objectives. Provide a clean, safe, organized working environment within the cell that is conducive to efficient and productive operations. Utilize quality management techniques for problem solving, corrective action and process decisions. Establish budget and annual plan for cell, monitor performance to plan and take corrective action. Develop, implement and support systems to achieve cost reductions, quality improvements, productivity increases, inventory reductions and service improvements: Assemble to Order, Build to Order, Line Stock, Kanban, New Technology, Automated Assembly, Set-Up Reductions, etc. Develop systems to plan and manage production, capacity, inventories, and purchases. Function as buyer/planner in appropriate cell. Research, justify, procure and implement new technology to maximize cell profitability. Work with all suppliers to deliver components which meet quality and delivery requirements. Identify process and component changes to improve value and performance of standard product. Manage the development and implementation of preproduction projects. Establish and implement training requirements and develop cross-trained multi-functional employees. Manage staff and resources to achieve cell objectives. Understand and implement Graco QMS. Must spend a minimum of 15% of time on factory floor. Ensure compliance to all Company policies and practices. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Essential Qualifications B.A. in Business, B.S. in Engineering, or equivalent and 5 years manufacturing or advanced degree and 2 years business experience. Minimum of 6 to 8 years manufacturing experience. 2 years supervisory experience. Knowledge or experience with manufacturing information systems (forecasting, MRP, SPC, labor, costing). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good coaching, facilitating and counseling capabilities. Strong leadership qualities. Desirable Qualifications MBA/Engineering Degree. Machinist/assembly experience. Experience with Just-In-Time principles and implementation. Past budgeting/accounting experience, preferably ownership of own budget. Purchasing experience, contact with outside vendors. Understanding of SPC and Total Quality concepts. Experience supervising manufacturing employees.
