Faith Regional Health Services is Hiring an EKG Tech Near Norfolk, NE

Work Status Details : PRN | 8.00 Hours Every Two Weeks
Exempt from Overtime : Non-Exempt
Shift Details : 6a-2p as needed
Department : Respiratory Therapy | Reports To: Manager-Respiratory Therapy

Summary:

The EKG Technician is responsible for performing EKG's and related departmental diagnostic procedures including: Holter monitor set-ups, and EEG's. Manages the daily auditing of testing in the PACS system and covers the receptionist duties in absence of the department support specialist. Assists Respiratory Therapy with cleaning and assembling equipment, ordering and monitoring supplies, and basic respiratory monitoring.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrates ability to appropriately modify approach and procedures to meet needs of age/diversity of population served for the following age groups:

  • Neonate (birth – 28 days)
  • Infant (29 days – less than 1 year)
  • Pediatric/Child (1 year – 12 years)
  • Adolescent (12 years – 18 years)
  • Adult (18 years – 65 years)
  • Geriatric (over 65 years)
    • Incorporates cultural considerations in the provisions of care.
    • Knowledge of growth and developmental stages.
    • Considers life changes/effects on health beliefs and behaviors.
    • Provides necessary safety measures.
    • Provides information and involves family/caregiver in decision making.

2. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the Cardiopulmonary department as defined in the scope of practice, to assure that the unique nature of the patient is addressed. This includes but is not limited to the age of the patient served.

    • Performs EKG's and diagnostic procedures
    • Performs EKG's including adult/pediatric and infant population
    • Performs Cardiac monitoring including Holter monitoring
    • Performs EEG's including adult, pediatric, infant, conscious sedation, sleep deprivation, coma evaluation as needed
  • Manages diagnostic reports.
    • Manages PACS System; includes confirming EKG's getting to appropriate Doctors, oversees timeliness of physician overreads, performs queries and searches to aid in clinic overread charges
    • Assists in Holter duties including setup, checking charges, logging and uploading studies and faxing as needed
    • Perform audit of diagnostic charges to ensure charging accuracy/completion

5. Performs basic Respiratory monitoring – All patient monitoring will be performed under direction from a licensed Respiratory Therapist

    • Perform routine oximetry checks
    • Perform routine patient Incentive Spirometry instruction and follow-up
    • Perform routine patient Flutter Valve therapy instruction and follow-up
    • Note- If any adjustments are needed in patients’ level of care, tech must notify licensed Respiratory Therapist for adjustments to ordered therapy
  • Assists with departmental miscellaneous duties.
    • Orders departmental supplies as needed
    • Check oxygen tanks daily
    • Put away supplies, and re-stock floor supplies as needed
    • Assist with equipment cleaning and assembling as time allows, picking up and delivering department mail
    • Projects a positive, calm, cooperative attitude when completing tasks for unexpected events
  • Demonstrates ability to adapt to unexpected events.
    • Adjust schedule due to physician emergencies, patient priority and cancellations
    • Able to prioritize workload when busy

    Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

    The requirements listed below must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.

    EDUCATION:

    GED or High School Diploma preferred.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    Basic Life Support (BLS) obtained within one full month from date of hire required.

    EXPERIENCE :

    Previous clinical experience preferred.

    SKILLS:

    Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.
