Bay Electric, LLC is Hiring a General Project Manager Near Newport, VA

Bay Electric Co., Inc., a Newport News, Virginia based General & Electrical Contractor is currently looking to add a General Construction Managers to our fast-paced team. This is a full time position that is located in our Newport News, Virginia Corporate Office.

This role works closely with senior management, architects and engineers to develop plans, establish construction schedules, secure subcontractors, and preparing budgets and submittals. Our ideal candidate will be an effective problem-solver who loves working in a fast pace environment and is able to adapt to ongoing changes.

Responsibility:

  • Manages projects from “cradle to grave”. Including but not limited to estimating, buy-out, budgeting, all pre-construction activities, design reviews, quality control, submittals, RFP, modifications, design, build, and close out.
  • Provide clear communication, leadership and overall management of all team members associated with the project.
  • Develop the project schedule in Primavera and create accurate schedule of values
  • Manage the project schedule and communicating to the project team important information such as submittal lead time, material lead times, and overall completion of the project.
  • Oversee management of field employees, and subcontractors
  • Forecast schedule activities & manage manpower
  • Develop the project budget including cost codes and required support for importing the budget into Viewpoint.
  • Identify changes in contract scope and provides proper notification to the clients.
  • Meets with Senior management for project status reviews and budgeting
  • Develop and maintain positive business relationships with clients, A/Es, subcontractors, suppliers, and team members.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in building construction management is desired but not required. Any relevant combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 5 years of experience managing construction projects exceeding $10 million.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and entire building process, including building codes, blueprints, permits, construction equipment, material resources, construction processes, and project management principles
  • Has the ability to work on multiple project in varying phases of construction
  • Possess the ability to manage project teams effectively for growth and success.
  • Proficient in Primavera for scheduling and project timeline management.
  • Ability to schedule work activities and manage procurement of materials and subcontractor to meet project completion dates
  • Must be familiar with the FAR and government contracting.
  • Must understand the ACOE 3 phases of construction
  • Must be willing to work in an office setting or a jobsite setting
  • Must have OSHA 30 and Army Corp of Engineering QC certification or be able to complete within short period of time.
  • Must have a clean background and be able to access government facilities throughout projects.
  • Must have good driving record acceptable to our insurer
  • Must be proficient with MS Office 365, Word, Excel Power Point, MS Project, Primavera, Adobe, Bluebeam, and other construction management software.
  • Skilled in managing contract scope changes and timely communication.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with clients, A/Es, subcontractors, and team members.
