Neurish Wellness is Hiring a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) Near Newport, CA

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor/ Program Director, the primary role of the Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) at Neurish Wellness is to provide supportive services and direct care to patients suffering from mental health disorders and cooccurring issues. This direct-care staff is responsible for the supervision of the patients throughout the length duration of their shift. The BHT will ensure that clients participate in treatment related activities, group programming, activities of daily living (ADL’s), and attend all community support and recreational activities. The BHT takes ownership over making sure group happens on schedule, clients get to those groups, and attend all appointments with therapists and case managers. They are responsible for redirecting clients back to groups and other activities when they may be off task or out of compliance. The BHT is responsible for communicating the client’s needs directly to the necessary staff or leadership to follow through in making sure those needs are met. Neurish Wellness operates a series of evidence-based treatment centers for adults struggling with mental health diagnosis & co-occurring issues. Neurish Wellness offers clinically sophisticated mental health treatment for patients suffering from mental illness in order to restore & change the quality of their lives.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in daily supervision of client activities and remain aware of clients whereabouts throughout the shift.
  • Provides a brief overview of the program rules, procedures, and services to newly admitted clients.
  • Maintains order and ensures compliance with rules and regulations; ensures that clients conduct themselves in an orderly manner.
  • Enforcing the rules of the program and always keeping professional relationships and healthy boundaries with clients.
  • Engages clients in therapeutic and experiential activities as appropriate.

  • Monitors and documents clients for signs of medical distress and/or behavioral concerns on an ongoing basis.
  • Assists medical staff with all rounds duties in a timely manner (Q15,Q30,Q60)
  • Provides appropriate support and structure for clients in dealing with their recovery; interacts continually with clients.
  • Ensures client wake-up and bedtime, escorts residents on shopping trips, recreation, meetings, and medical appointments.
  • Distributes daily mail to clients and observes confidentiality standards.
  • Records accurate and up-to-date reports on every client to ensure that all admissions and discharges are recorded in a timely fashion.
  • At any time, the client’s whereabouts are unknown immediately reporting this to direct supervisors.
  • Responds appropriately to all medical, crisis, and other emergencies.
  • Present a first line of intervention/ACA Blocking in instances where clients are attempting to leave treatment early and/or Against Clinical Advice.
  • BHT’s are responsible for the safe operation of all company vehicles and the maintenance of those vehicles (Regular vehicle inspection & auto servicing).
  • Conducts search of all client bags when being admitted to the facility. Confiscates and secures any contraband found and notifies the appropriate supervisor on duty in their absence.
  • Randomly inspects all rooms, common areas, hallways, and bathrooms every thirty minutes and performs a thorough search for contraband, no less than weekly.
  • Knowledge of DSS, DHCS, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Knowledge of KIPU, EMR/EHR experience.
  • Attending all mandatory training and in-house conferences/seminars.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma required (bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
  • Personal experience in Recovery and/or with the utilization of mental health services.
  • If in personal recovery, a minimum of 1 year clean and sober.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.
  • Applicant must be willing and able to work weekends and/or graveyard shifts.
  • Knowledge of EMR/EHR Software.
  • Must pass FBI/DOJ Livescan Background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Close vision required to see computer monitor, read documents and operate copy and fax machine. Distance vision is required to drive an automobile, if driving is a requirement of the job.
  • Moderate noise levels as found in a business office with computer printers, households with TVs and dishwashers, and driving in traffic.
  • Work environment is indoors and climate-controlled. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

CPR & First Aid certification

Valid California Class C Driver’s License

Previous experience in Primary Mental Health/Chemical Dependency treatment environment required

Prior Experience - Prior work experience in like or related position is required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
