We are looking for reliable, responsible, dedicated, energetic, and caring people to work in our Adult Day Program as Direct Care Specialists.

The Center for Autism addresses the needs of urban residents diagnosed with Autism and other Pervasive Developmental Delays in Newark and the surrounding community by providing an educational, interactive, and simulated home-community based environment in a beautiful facility.

Direct Care Specialists help adults learn necessary skills to live productive and independent lives. This includes assistance in toileting, hygiene and other self-care skills. Further, Direct Care Specialists provide assistance and supervision during community exploration trips, and while transporting adult clients with vehicle operators.

We believe our adult clients have more to learn, more to offer, and we want to continue their educational experience. Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent is REQUIRED
• Two year experience working in a special education program is preferred.
• Two year experience working with adults diagnosed with Autism and/or behavior modification is preferred.
• Current, valid NJ driver license is required. MUST BE A NJ RESIDENT
• TB test result and medical clearance is required.
• Finger printing and background check is submitted for clearance by the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
• If hired successfully, completion of CPR training and College of Direct Support courses is required.
• Must consent to Pre Employment and ongoing random Drug Test
