KLR Executive Search Group LLC is Hiring a Director of Development Near Natick, MA

Based in Natick, MA, Birthday Wishes is a nonprofit organization serving Massachusetts families, making a difference in the lives of homeless children and their families by bringing them the joy of a birthday party. Birthday parties provide the opportunity for reflection, celebration, and hope. They are a common event in the lives of most families, but for children experiencing homelessness, families may be unable to maintain their routines and rituals. Birthday Wishes ensures that children are not denied this important rite of passage simply because of their living situation.

In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Director of Development will be responsible for managing existing development programs and developing future fundraising strategies and initiatives to support Birthday Wishes’ annual revenue plan. The Director will often be the ‘face’ of Birthday Wishes, representing the organization in this important and highly visible position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to create, execute and manage all fundraising strategies.
  • Define new fundraising activities including special events, media, donor, and corporate relations.
  • Engage in ongoing research to identify new individuals, foundations, and corporate prospects to cultivate, steward donors and close gifts.
  • Oversee the management of the Birthday Wishes signature events- The Birthday Shuffle and Walk for Birthdays including selling sponsorships and event tickets in addition to managing the outreach efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 3 years’ experience in a leadership Development position; or combination of education and experience.
  • Proven track record in procuring funding (grants and sponsorships) for non-profit organizations.
  • Experience in developing, organizing, and hosting events as well as public speaking experience is required.
  • Grant writing, public relations and social media experience is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and relationship databases. Experience with Sales Force and fundraising software preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will be team-oriented and collaborative. This is a small team that works well together. The incoming Director will appreciate and desire this type of environment.
  • Birthday Wishes seeks a relationship-driven individual with excellent communications skills and an entrepreneurial spirit.
