This is a professional position responsible for performing advanced accounting work in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), state and federal laws/regulations, and university policy. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to assigned supervisor.
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and methods, and the ability to apply them to specific situations.
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
- Ability to learn office- and university-specific software.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results in a concise format.
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
Physical Demands Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field and two years of related experience or current Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required.
Required Experience and Training Preferred Qualifications
Experience in fund accounting is preferred.

Min Pay Rate Mid Pay Rate Salary Information Commensurate with Experience, Hiring Salary - $37,000-$53,100 Specific Job Requirements/Duties for this Posting
This position is located in Financial Reporting and reports to the associate director.

This position is eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
