Pioneer Resources is Hiring a Director of Finance Near Muskegon, MI

Position Type / Expected Hours of WorkThis is a Full Time position with standard office hours Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm and may include additional hours as work requires.
SummaryThe Director of Finance will represent the company on the majority of financial matters and is responsible for the daily management, direction, and administration for all finance and accounting related activities including preparation of financial reports, analysis, summaries, and forecasts for future business growth. This position is a key associate of the Management Team and supervises the Finance Team.
Essential Functions
  • Develop Monthly and Year End financial statements and consolidation statements according to GAAP. Perform account reconciliations, prepare general journal entries, and budget variance analysis.
  • Oversee and review finance/accounting staff daily performance. Train staff as needed to remain technically current, and perform annual evaluations for the Financial Team. Interview and recommend potential candidates for the Finance Team.
  • Reconcile and support all Financial activity with proper documentation. Perform compliance audits as necessary to assure the compliance to Standard Operating Procedures and GAAP.
  • Supervise and monitor the daily invoicing to assure the accuracy, timely processing and collection. Monitor and approve all specialized invoicing activity covering the City, County, State, and Federal grants.
  • Assure that Pioneer Resources Standard Operating Procedures are used for all purchases. Use the Matching Principal of Accounting to review the documentation and approval process for purchases.
  • Prepare for the CEO and the Board of Directors on a monthly and annual basis the financial status on all programs. Provide to the Boards of Directors well prepared written financial statements and analysis for the Pioneer Resources, Pioneer Arbour, PIoneer House and Pioneer Resources Non Profit Housing Corp (Lazarus Place)
  • Suggest recommendations to the CEO as required regarding various financial matters.
  • Responsible for the initiation of corrective action regarding accounting methods, polices that have been identified as problematic. Document issue, action plan, and results. Report to the CEO the results in good form.
  • Should negative financial, or legal matters become apparent, are documented, and verified, report directly to the CEO and then the Board of Directors such matters for their review and action.
  • Provide Operating Unit Directors assistance in the development their annual budget. Develop overhead rates, allocations, and other computations as necessary. Post the Operating Units Budget to the respective operating system. Review each Operating Unit Budget for completeness and accuracy. Update and adjust as necessary to reflect current conditions and or board actions. Any adjustments must follow proper approval processes. Develop Monthly and Annual Variance analysis for each operating unit.
  • Develop and implement short and long range goals for Pioneer Resource’s and carry out goals set forth in the approved Strategic Plan.
  • Responsible for the complete compliance and coordination with the Outside Auditor’s Audit Plan.
  • Cultivate a Positive Team atmosphere that engages the entire Pioneer Resources Operating Units.
  • Follow and enforce Company Policies, Procedures and mandated contractual obligations.
  • All other duties to be assigned by the CEO.
  • Oversee support of outside organizations need for financial support services
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA, CPA, CMA preferred.
  • 5-10 years of demonstrated knowledge of full-charge bookkeeping, accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations;
  • 3 years supervising, guiding and directing the work of others.
  • Knowledge of and experience in financial planning and budget management principles. Experience with Blackbaud/ FE is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills. Ability to present and communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Driver’s License with less than 6 points
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in a similar nonprofit industry working in human services with MSHDA, CMH/HealthWest, Medicaid, MDHHS, MDOT, and similar agencies.
Travel:Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% for meetings, trainings and conferences.
Work EnvironmentThis employee usually works in an office environment but may be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting. Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light foot traffic).
Physical Demands Of The JobSedentary work: lifting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, walk, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment.
